Flamingo or Aladdin??
Two adults are going to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks. Have a room booked at the Flamingo, mainly for the location and the pool. However, Aladdin now has better rates and am considering a change in room. What is the pool at the Aladdin like?? I guess since all pools are crowded this year, it really doesnt matter. Which hotel room is nicer and are the locations equal?/ Thanks for the info.

Having stayed at both I would say the pool is much nicer at the Flamingo, but the rooms at Aladdin are far superior. Our room at Aladdin was probably almost twice the size as the room at Flamingo. The pool at Aladdin was rooftop off of the third floor or so, with little or no landscaping.

The Aladdin is significantly newer and to me the location is close to a wash. I am not a pool guy although I have seen the Flamingo pool, I have not seen the Aladdin pool.
If this is your first trip, I would lean toward the Aladdin. The Flamingo is closer to it's neighbors and there are probably more "colorful" charcters (not dangerous) hanging out near the Flamingo in the wee hours.
The standard rooms at Flamingo are...well...standard hotel rooms. I have not stayed at the Aladdin but friends who have, love the rooms. Especially the bathrooms.

if you plan on spending a lot of hours at the pool, i'd go for the flamingo. we stayed there last year and had a strip view room. it was very large but it is an older establishment so know that going in. clean but carpets, wall paper etc were dated. we were perfectly happy there. my sister stayed at the aladin and i don't recall her mentioning the pool but they said there rooms were great.

Of course pretty much everybody is going to say the Aladdin since it's definitely the nicer hotel, mainly because it's newer and it's right near the part of Vegas that everybody seems to want to go to....Bellagio, Venetian, Paris, etc. Whereas the Flamingo is near the "older" part of the Strip....Caesars, Mirage, TI, etc.
We've stayed at both and they both have their pros and cons. We like both hotels, but we prefer the rooms at the Aladdin. Again, because they're newer. Are you going to have a car? The one thing we hate about the Aladdin is the parking situation. It seems like the self-parking garage is miles away, and if you valet, you have to wait ages for your car!

We stayed at the Aladdin last week and spent time at the pool. There are two identical pools on the 6th floor. Both have lounge chairs around them, however, most of the lounge chairs are located between the two pools down a short flight of stairs. You can't see the pools from the main deck and as a previous posted stated, almost no landscaping. The week we were there you had to go up before 9:00 a.m. if you wanted a chair around the pool and not on the lower level. I was really disappointed in the pool area as that was where we wanted to spend a lot of the daytime hours.
The rooms were very nice and great bathrooms! To me the room is more important than the pool area, I want to be comfortable. The quality of linens was not very good, scratchy sheets!

These questions trying to compare two hotels are often very difficult. But having stayed at both the Flamingo and Aladdin, I call this one a "no brainer". At even close to the same price go for Aladdin -- it is a waaayyyyy better hotel with muuuucccchhhh better rooms!

"Blocks" don't work quite like they do in other cities when you're talking about the strip. Flamingo is about 1 mile closer to Venetian than Aladdin is. Both are still great locations, though.

I have stayed at both of these hotels. Flamingo has the better pool and Aladdin has the better rooms. Locations of both are fine. Aladdin has Desert Passage shopping connected to it, if you are interested in doing any shopping.
You will be fine with either on these choices.

Deck chair this, deck chair that. You'll be able to get a chair eventually. Consider it the same wait (or no wait somtimes) as getting a table at a restaurant. Relax. Your chair are being prepared now. If we are able to get chairs at Hard Rock and at Mandalay, you'll be able to get your chairs, too.

Thank you for the comments. I think the pool area will be more important to us the first three days we are there. Hope to be able to relax some. And the Flamingo pool sounds really beautiful and we will look forward to having breakfast looking out over the garden area. That said, I wish they would update the rooms. That would go along way to improve their reputation here among Fodorites!
The Aladdin pool area sounds strange. We are leaving mid-trip to tour Zion and Bryce. When we come back after three days away, we will have one remaining night to stay in Vegas and will stay that night at the Aladdin. Sounds wonderful that our last night will be in a very nice room and the pool will not matter then. Also, a good time to explore Desert Passage mall!
Thanks for all the great tips! We leave in one week. Glad it is not today as we live in Alabama and are under severe weather watch due to Hurricane Dennis and tornado warnings. Not a good time to leave your children for a week.

With regard to the Flamingo rooms, they have been recently renovated. I was there last year and the room I was in had been recently renovated. I think by now they have all been refurbished. The room was of a good size, clean, with new carpeting and bedding. The bathroom, however, is just a basic bath. Not luxurious like some of the other hotels in Vegas.
