What's a creative, inexpensive travel company

I'm going to Germany this winter (during New Years, and after Christmas), and am taking my niece. And it's my 50th birthday. I lived in Goeppingen as a child, and would like to plan a trip where we can ski in the Alps, stop in at Goeppingen, and end up in berlin for New Years. Don't think I'd have the time to plan a trip like this. Anyone know any good, reliable travel agencies in the DC metro region that could plan something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

You might get more responses if you post this on the Europe board and add Germany to your title

jah, what you're really after is a travel agent in the DC area so that's what the title of your post should reflect. Try re-posting with a new title, something like "Reliable Travel Agency in DC Area". That ought to do it!

I'm a a little confused.

Are you asking for an agency that arranges low budget trips?

Or are you asking for an agency that will do it for low fees?

Or both?

I'ts very difficult to find one that does both - because the least expensive trips will involve low cost airlines, small B&Bs etcs - which don;t pay commissions - and so the agent wlll have to charge you much higher fees.

There are lower-cost tour companies that do air/hotel packages - rather than full escorted tours - but thye typically don;t arrange trips as specific as yours - you just select from one of their options.

If you want a low budget trip - and to pay low or no fees - and something as specific as you seem to be asking for - I think you;ll have to organize it yourself.

With such a specific itinerary in mind, I doubt you'll find an organized tour to fit your needs (inexpensive or otherwise) since you have such a specific itinerary in mind.

Why don't you plan it yourself?

Change the title and copy the post over on the Europe board, and you'll be on your way!

Oops, I misread. You aren't looking for a tour group but a cheap travel planner.

Still as suggested above, I'd repost on the US board with a better title. And add it to the Europe board too.

Thanks for suggestions. Tried it again. Hopefully, I made it clearer regarding what I'm looking for. Will try some other searches, too, to get some more ideas.

Try slowtravel.com. There are a number of people there who specialize in particular countries.
