Am I crazy!!!
I can't believe that there is no place to be had in March 2006 that is nice with a pool in an apartment format close to the beach under $150./ We were there 7 years ago and stayed at the casurina (which was good but now closed for new ownership) and we didn't pay the kind of prices I am seeing. Does anyone have the inside scoop or has commercialism hit Barbados in a big way. I've had a drink so go easy on me....
Any on topic info is appreciated. If you need advice Australia, Mexico - East Coast I have put what I can on those sites under Shultzy. I am so tired on hearing about the $300 a night + rooms. If you are paying those prices what are you doing on this site... Many thanks for your kind indulgence.

Aparently Shultzy the answer to the question in the title of your post "Am I crazy!!!" is YES.
#1 - I had to read 3/4 of your post until I could find out you're talking about Barbados.
#2 7 years ago? Did you really think the prices would be the same. Ever hear of inflation?
#3 As previous poster mentioned. Fodors is a site for all budgets & interests in travel. If you're specifcally looking for budget travel advice ask for it in a nice way...there are plenty of posters, myself included who try to get the most for our travel dollars.
#4 Perhaps in your case better to post sober. One drink seems more than enough for you.
Good luck.

Obviously the tenor of my posting offended. It was not meant to be. As for the comments received....$150 doesn't seem like budget travel to me and I don't expect prices to be the same as 7 years ago but double in some cases seems excessive. At $300 per night I assumed that all the accomodation would be great so it wouldn't be necessary to ask on this forum. As for posting I always select Barbados as my topic but I guess that doesn't show up so in the future I will mention it in my posting. The drink comment was more of a joke than anything else and I thought my posting was friendly and polite.

Are you wedded to Barbados? I think that Frommer's Budget Travel (sorry to mention it on this forum) often lists bargains for Barbados which seem to fall into your range. I also thought of your post while reading and writing on another post about Concordia Eco-tents in St. John. It's actually very nice and not too much like camping at all, with beautiful views, a pool, and within walking distance to a great snorkeling beach. The price for accomodations for 1-6 would be right in your range.
