First Wedding Anniversary

Help! Our first wedding anniversary is Oct. 7 and we do not have anything planned - we wanted to do a quick weekend trip - any ideas for an easy drive from Chicago or quick flight with a relaxing destination?

We love 4-5 star hotels, Chicago-quality restaurants, good wine and fall leaves - please send any and all ideas - thanks!!

Do you have a good hotel and restaurant recco? We like to be in the thick of it with things in walking distance. Love good food too!

HOtels in the Copley Place/ Back Bay/ Beacon Hill and some in/around Boston Common/Boston Public Gardens: area are all within good locations - I like the Copley Fairmont, the Westin, Omni Parker, Radisson, Nine Zero, there are a ton of great hotels also on the Waterfront - try hotels.com, etc and see what you can come up with - it's a tough time in Boston - parents weekends at college, leef-peepers, etc -

Restaurants, tehre's a zillion - look on opentable.com - for special occasions we like Oak Room @ Copley, Hammersley's Bistro, Mistral, Sorrelinas, Excelsior - might depend on your age where I would recommend, type of food you like, price range -

post back if you have hotel ? or find one, that owuld be the first thing I would do w/ airline - a restaurant can be found after ! good luck.

Maybe too late to get in, but how about the American Club at Kohler, Wisconsin?

Ooops. How funny. I just ran across your later post asking about the American Club in Kohler. Was it booked?

Hi all - we were able to book Kohler and are so excited. All standard rooms were gone, but they have a few more delux rooms and a suite left. It is Columbus Day weekend, which we kind of forgot about.

Dinner reservations times were not our first choice, but we have booked the time with horse back riding lessons, spa appointments and a apple orchard visit.

Dinner on our anniversary night (Sunday) is planned for Whistling Straits - has anyone ever been there for dinner?
It was one of the only places open on Sunday night.
