Need help with bday restaurant in San Diego, CA

Don't want fancy and expensive, but good and moderate. I think we'll be staying in the Solana Beach area, but can travel if we need to. Want a nice place, good food, good variety (teen kids will be joining us), nice atmosphere, not a seafood place...By moderate maybe $100 to $150 for the four of us...

We LOVE Italian, that pleases everyone. NO SUSHI or seafood. Any ideas?

Love Trattoria Acqua in La Jolla...great food and the ocean view is lovely too..
Pizza Port in Solana Beach is excellent for pizza and they brew their own beer too.

TT- I remember a place that I went to in the 90's a couple of times that had good Italian food and opera singers. Was it called maybe La Costa Gardens? Maybe it's not still there (in Del Mar?), because I can't find it online. Thanks.

trippin..I love to hear from you!!
Manhattan's in La Jolla has singing waiters and that is where Tommy Lasorda goes to and the food is very good..
De' Medici in the Gaslamp will sing occasionally and the food is outstanding!
Fillipi's is cheap and good with lots of locations in SD and it has the red checkerboard and the hanging chianti bottles.
I don't recall a restaurant called La Costa Gardens..maybe a place in Encinitas called When in Rome..they might of sung but had lots of red wine that evening, so I think everyone was singing!

trippin, we went there too! For my dad's 75th birthday (but he's 88 now, so it probably is "no longer"). It was fun, don't remember the food quality though.

Thanks TT and DMLove. It could of been Encinitas, and maybe they changed their name. I think it was very close to the La Costa Resort and Spa.

Here are a few that I am cosidering. If you know about any of these, let me know, ok?

Vigilucci's in Encinitas, Firenze, Trattoria Trulli and When in Rome, also in Encinitas.

Del Mar is Paradise Grill and Cuvee.

Solona Beach is Beach Grass Cafe and Trattoria Positano in Cardiff by the Sea.

We are looking for nice atmostphere (but not fancy, upscale), good food, moderate pricing, nice place to hang for a while and enjoy dinner, probably leaning towards Italian.

Thanks if you can help.
