SF tour companies ferry you to Vallejo and then the tours continue by land. It may be to Muir Woods or Wine country (Napa or Sonoma Valley). Do a search on SF tours - not on Fodor's, but on Google or whatever search you're using. It may be Gray Line or any other bus company.

While there is no direct ferry service to Napa, you can buy a combination ferry/bus ticket to Napa. The ferry will take you from San Francisco to Vallejo, and from there you can take a bus to Napa. This may be what you are referring to. The following link has more information.

Vallejo is very close to Napa. Maybe 30 minutes drive at the most to the town of Napa.
Conversely, if you are staying in Napa valley and want to spend the day in SF, you can park for free at the ferry terminal in Vallejo and take the ferry into the city for the day. I'd think it would be more enjoyable than dealing with the traffic in the city, plus you get the fabulous views from the water.

I did read the question and added more info to previous posters, namely the distance between Vallejo and Napa, which was info not offered yet. You might want to look up the word "conversely". If anyone was doing a search for "ferry" and "Napa" in the future they might find my post helpful. What exactly did you add to this post?

"Please answer the question", thanks for your critique of my post. I'll try in the future to keep my answers in line with your stringent guidelines. I can't imagine how difficult your job must be to keep these Fodorites on topic. You have my apologies.

Last I heard the Napa River still goes through Napa. Use any search engine
to come up with Napa River events. Here is the one that popped up first:

Maybe the post Jennifer recalls has them taking the Sausalito Ferry over and then a limo up to the Napa area?

Wow! Thank you for the info. I am looking to get to Napa to do the limo tour, but it is too expensive to take the limo from SF I think, so I wanted to figure out a better way to get to a near-Napa location where the limos would pick up. I think the ferry to Vallejo may have been what I saw. Thanks!
