Thanks SFfoodie ... I had planned time in North Beach on a day subsequent to our arrival day ... heard it is great for breakfast! Will take your suggestions/recommendations in consideration however! I love Italian food - from any region! Can't wait until I can get there with my husband (Italy that is). He has never been.

Hi levelheadedwoman,
Glad to hear you will not be missing North Beach. I have dinner a few times a week in the NB neighborhood, but rarely have breakfast out as most mornings, I am working. I am a CPA, a job which I can juggle to get a few weeks in Italy every year.(my true reason for living!) You must get your hubby to go to Italy. As you know Rome is the center of the world. But back to SF...I must say you have planted a seed to make me consider getting out for breakafast. I volunteer one day a month as a caretaker for a person who is quite ill, but she is at her best in the morning I am going to try to get her "wheelchaired" out for a North Beach breakfast the next time I am on duty. Thanks for a nice idea. I will report back if I make any discoveries on wonderful breakfast places. Although Italians usually call breakfast a cappuccino and a croissant, there are some more American breakfast places in the nabe. On a food note as I think you are going to the ferry bldg here is a little place that has some nice foodie gift items from tuscany and can make you a quick shot of espresso to keep your energy up. Have a great trip!
