San francisco - Ferry building farmers Market?
My husband & I are planning to visit the Farmers Market on a Saturday morning. From what I have read, one is supposed to eat lunch there.
I am confused as to lunch options:
- Does one just eat at one of the cafes there or
- Does one buy picnic makings and eat at a bench somewhere? if so, where does one picnic.
Any insight appreciated!

You can have breakfast or lunch and eat at cafes- many- or picnic. Simply go in the back of the ferry building- if not too congested with booths- and sit and have a view of the Bay Bridge and the ferries coming and going. Another option is to take a short walk south along the embarcadero and have lunch on grass or benches along the path- view again! Enjoy!

thanks for the responses, guys.
BTW, i didn't mean you can't eat dinner there...I thought lunch would be more appropriate as we will be there in the morning.
I just cannot believe all the fabulous food choices in San fran. You folks are very lucky.

There are also food stands which appear concurrently with the produce vendors on market days. From what I can see, they are very popular and would provide you with a good lunch to eat while sitting on "the dock of the Bay". I'd have something substantial, and then go to one of the bakeries or chocolatiers and treat myself to a goodie for dessert. You will be in good company - ever since the food shops opened at the Ferry Plaza, locals and visitors alike have taken the opportunities to eat and mingle at this locale - it's a lot of fun, very crowded sometimes, so expect long lines at some of the vendors and shops.
