SF Lunch Recommendation

I am looking for recommendations for a quick lunch along the Embarcadero on Saturday in San Francisco. My husband and I are going on a bay cruise on Saturday afternoon (company event) and want to have lunch before we go on the boat.

Any type of food except Sushi is great, looking for something around $10-12/person.

We are coming up from SJ on Caltrain and then taking MUNI over to the fisherman's wharf area, so I was thinking somewhere around the Ferry Building or something.

Thanks in advance

Saturdays are Farmer's Market days at the Ferry Building--there will be lots of choices. I'd pick up a few items and plop myself down along the Embarcadero and enjoy the food and the views!

Slanted Door is very difficult to get into without reservations unless you happen on a time slot where a cancellation occurred. I know because I make reservations at least a week in advance for business lunches very frequently.

LuLu Petit is a purveyor inside the hall of the Ferry Building which has sandwiches and baked goods. There is a delicatessen right next to Peets Coffee that has prepared foods. The whole inside hall of the Ferry Building is lined with various places to pick up food.

The Saturday farmers' market suggestion is a good one - there are food stands as well as produce. You could get a burrito or a steak sandwich and maybe a basket of blackberries. And of course there is the gelato place!

"quick" will be the food stands on the right side of the Saturday farmer's market. You can get food and cross Embarcadero to the other side for a picnic (with a view!)

Dovima mentioned a deli next to Peet - I think there is one across from Peet's with lunch boxes to go, or you can eat there. But it should be nice outside.

Nice - the Ferry Building it is

I like the idea of picking up something and eating outside enjoying the view.

There's a decent quick Mexican place and an oyster bar in the Ferry Building. And a "roasted chicken" truck outside. Slanted Door is great for lunch, but for me it wouldn't qualify as a "quick lunch".

I got an excellent duck sandwich with cherry relish and a bag of homemade chips from Lulu Petit that I ate outside while watching the ferries. Couldn't have asked for a better lunch!

Hey razzledazzle -
Have you ever been to LuLu Petit when they've just finished a batch of home made potato chips? Still warm from the frying pot and shimmering with grease and sea salt - um um good.

Oh Merry, I had that duck sandwich with cherry relish at Lulu Petit when we were in SF to see Jersey Boys. Scrumptious!
