Goode Company in Houston. Green Mesquite in Austin is also tasty.

Also, not in TX but I'm a big fan of Corky's and Pig & Whistle in Memphis.

I vote for Cooper's in Llano. Not sure if they have another location. Probably the same one XXX is talking about. You just drive by the place and smell all the pits cooking... ummm! I'm getting a craving for their pork ribs right now!
Anita, I think you just help me decide what I'm going to do this weekend!

Another vote for Goode Co., in Houston, along with the grub at PT's Cajun Dance Hall in Clear Lake.

If you are ever near Abilene, The Shed is the best I have eaten. All you can eat brisket, sausage, ribs. It is located in the middle of nowherebetween San Angelo and Abilene and worth the drive. They have also opened a place in Sweetwater recently. If you are in Abilene during lunchtime go to Harold's. If you are lucky you will be serenaded by the owner who has a wonderful voice and damn good ribs and bar-b-que sandwiches.

Otto's in Houston.

You can find a funky beer can house in the same neighborhood.

I am counting the days! We head to TX in about 3 weeks & will be stopping in at our favorite place... Casey Jones BBQ in Cut N' Shoot TX. I am happy the hotel has a frig because after I eat one of his delicious drippy pork sandwiches I am getting one for later! If the cholesteral gets me I don't care!!

If you drive between San Antonio and Houston on I-10, at mm 632 (or so) is Luling. . in Luling the City Market is generally considered as good as it gets!

Enjoy Texas! . . Rich

Guy's Barbecue in Houston (near the corner of OST and Yellowstone). They definitely have the best ribs in town, but also good chicken, sausage and beef. They sell a dry rub that is perfect for all kinds of meat. Put's the Swinging Door in Richmond to SHAME!

I'll throw in a second for Harold's BBQ in Abilene. I've been working in Abilene this week, and my coworkers and I have paid Harold's several visits!

Shep's in Palestine, Texas is also really good.
