Extra Night; Portland or Cannon Beach for Anniversary?

We will be flying to Portland in June for our 30th Anniversary trip. We were planning on 1 night in Portland, and Cannon Beach for 3 nights. We will be able to squeeze in one extra night. Trying to decide if we should spend that extra night in Portland or down along the ocean in Cannon Beach. We plan on going to the Saturday Market when we arrive and out to dinner in Portland. It has been over 20 years since we have been up to Oregon. Any suggestions for our itinerary for our extra night?

Definitely add another night in Portland. There is so much to do and see here, and you could add a side trip over to the gorge which is a must see, IMO.

I agree, add it to Portland.

Where did you decide to stay in CB?

I'd also stay in Portland, there is so much to do and see - one day/night is not enough.

Some restaurant ideas,
dinner:
Le Pigeon (704 NW 21st St #503-226-6126 reservations in advance),
Toro Bravo (120 NE Russell #503-281-4464),
Clyde Commons (very popular & trendy 1014 SW Stark #503-228-3333)

lunch/breakfast
Mother's or Bijou

Portland Japanese Gardens,
Zoo,
Forest Park,

Portland Center Stage 128 NW 11th Ave (theatre is wonderful)

When in June are you coming? I ask because if your dates coincide with the Rose Festival, you would want to secure your hotel asap.

Be sure to take a drive down the Columbia River Gorge and give yourselves enough time to make a few stops at waterfalls and overlooks.

Extra day at Portland. I would second for Toro Bravo. I would do the Rose Garden over the Japanese Garden, but it would be easy to do both(they are right across the street from each other). Columbia River Gorge is awesome. Don't miss Powells Bookstore, and Stumptown Roasters Coffee. My wife ate at Mothers and said it was great. We did most of the coast, but sadly didn't make it to Cannon. check out tidepooling along the coast. Have a great trip!
