Exact walking directions - Brooklyn Br. to Grimaldi's?
We'd like to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and to Grimaldi's for pizza, then to the Brooklyn Promenade. Would someone please give me exact walking directions?
Is Grimaldi's a stand-up or sit down, and what kind of wait might we expect for lunch or dinner on a weekday? (family of 5)

Until you get a more precise reply:
Take the bridge and at the end of the bridge make a 180 degree turn to the right, so that you are now heading back towards the river and down a hill... Grimaldi's will be on your right hand side about 1/2 - 3/4 down the hill.
After lunch/dinner, check out the Ice Cream Factory which is further down the hill near the river.
As far as a wait goes, i can't help you on that one, except to say that dinner probably more busy than lunch, and wait likely to be less than 45 minutes (the line does move pretty quick)

My wife and I just returned form our first ever trip to NYC and had no problem finding Grimaldi's and the Bridge Promenade. We took the Subway to Brooklyn, I don't have the map infront of me but it's the closest stop to the end of the bridge, and Grimaldi's was just a short walk down Old Fulton St. We arrived at Grimaldi's just before 2 and there was room for us 2 and the 7 teenagers than came in a short time after us.
Grimaldi's was great. A small sit down place with local familes and visitor eating great new york pizza. And we were in and out in no time. So I'm sure if it is full when you get there you wont have to wait for long. And if you do you can enjoy the view of the river and the bridge as you wait.
After we ate we walked back up to the start of the bridge, with 4 other tourist, and across the bridge.
Author's directions are correct, and realy as precise as you'll need.
Look for the street signs for Old Fulton St., follow it towards the river and you'll find Grimaldi's.
P.S.
Can't wait to go back to NewYork it was much easier to get around and find things than we thought it might have been. Just have a street and subway map and have fun.

I live right next to the bridge, so I can give you accurate directions.
After walking across the bridge, you will see stairs going down on the left side. Take these down, take a left at the bottom, and another left when you reach Prospect Street, just a few feet away. Follow Prospect Street down the hill towards the water...it becomes Old Fulton Street. Grimaldi's is on the right, directly across from the Eagle Warehouse (a big 'ol brick fortress).
Grimaldi's is sit-down, and there is ALWAYS a wait for dinner, but rarely for lunch. There is a way to get around the wait however...have one person go to the back of the restaurant and order/pay for the pizzas. Then go wait outside on the street. In 5 minutes (!) they bring it out to you...then you walk down to the pier at the end of the street where there are tables...and you can sit and eat out there, enjoying the spectacular view! I do this every week. If I still have room after dinner, I get ice cream on the pier - the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory has the best ice cream in NYC according the the Daily News.

We just returned from a lovely trip to New York and ate at Grimaldi's for lunch last week (Thursday I think). We arrived for lunch at about 11:45 and we were just about the only people in there! No wait at all. Had a wonderful sausage and raosted pepper "pie". We also walked down Water Street to Jacque Torres' Chocolate Shop (www.mrchocolate.com). He had a show on PBS (Dessert Circus) and now has one on the Food Network (Chocolate). Wonderful chocolates, but a bit pricey at $40/lb. Have fun!

I did this with some friends last week and we had a slight problem finding Grimaldi's. There is apparently an area that you can get off the bridge before the actual "end" of the walkway in town. We missed that turn-off somehow and ended up having to go the long route to Grimaldi's. However, we enjoyed our little trip thru Brooklyn.
