Evanston Restaurants

Taking my daughter to college and need help picking out places for dinner in the Evanston area. Looking for good food for the money($ to $$$). Any kind of ethnic food is fine. We have great seafood at home, so probably not a seafood restaruant. For this trip we will have a car. I'm finding just a few choices in guidebooks: Carmens, Dave's Italian Kitchen, Dixie Kitchen and Bait Shop, Merle's, Prairie Moon, and Lulu's Dim Sum and Then Sum. Are any/all of these good choices? Any other suggestions you may have? Thanks for your help.

My personal recommendations are
Expensive: Jilly's Cafe, Jacky's Bistro, Oceanique, Campagnola, Pete Miller's

Moderate: Kuni's, Lucky Platter, Trattoria Demi, Cross-Rhodes

Lots of good coffeehouses in Evanston, too!

Prairie Moon is one of my faves, and Olive Mountain, Everest, Dixie Kitchen are all great restuarants! Lulu's is fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I had looked on the metromix site, but evidently didn't go far enough; it takes a while to sift through. Kitchen, Trattoria Demi, Cross-Rhodes, and Mt. Everest are all possibilites. We'll see what we feel like once we're in Evanston. If you have any other favorites, please let me know.

I hear great things about Va Pensiero (Italian), but I think it might be too pricey. Everest, Lulu's, and Trattoria Demi are terrific, and Dixie Kitchen is fun.

I also like Lucky Platter and Koi, though Koi is a little expensive. Wolfgang Puck's Cafe, at the movie theater complex is fun, too.
