Southfield, MI Restaurants?
I'm meeting a friend for an early dinner one night next week (early in the week, probably). I'm coming from Livonia and she's coming from Rochester, so we figured Southfield would be a good meeting place. Unfortunately, neither of us knows Southfield at all, so we're looking for restaurant recos. I've seen this thread:

and Sweet Lorraine's sounds like it could work, but most of the others are either not where we want them to be or too pricey.
Can anyone recommend a good restaurant in that area where we can have a nice chat (no loud music or really loud atmosphere) and eat sandwiches/salads or entrees in the under $15 category? Preferably not a large chain - something more local. At this point, no particular cuisine is preferred or out - I'm flexible, and not sure what she'd like to eat, so I'd love to offer up any ideas anyone has.
Thanks!

Not in Southfield, but what about the Red Coat Tavern in Royal Oak (on Woodward between 13 and 14 Mile Roads). Great burgers and sandwiches -- works with your budget and definitely not a chain. Have a bowl of their clam chowder - it's so good!
