As others are encouraging you GoTravel, are you sure you can't find cheaper tickets? If I were given a home in the BVI (and I feel just fine about accepting that kind of a gift), I'd figure out a way to get there!

Hi everyone!

Thank you all for your insights.

I have decided not to take the plane tickets and just bite the bullet and purchase them myself.

As thoughtful a gesture, it would make me uncomfortable.

As far as financing the tickets through a second mortgage or credit card, that is where the college tuition is coming from

GT: I am glad you made a decision you could live with and be sure of. Enjoy it.

Okay, I confess, "topping" to me means a dessert treat or topping off the wine glass..
I rarely top off the gas tank these days, since those extra quarters are being saved for lip plumping, muah ha ha

I am fascinated by this discussion since for many years I had a hard time taking something from anyone without being able to reciprocate and do something equal in return.

I hope not to offend anyone by talking about religion, but I was released from this foolishness when I realized that this is my relationship with God: He gives me what I do not deserve; all I can do is be grateful and treat others as much as I can the same way. Maybe this is how the partner feels.

Humans may have some of God's attributes, but unlike God, they are not perfect.

You did the right thing, GT.
