Hi!
We bought an Entertainment Book on Maui when we arrived (bookstore is close to airport and has late hours). We used the Atlantis Submarine coupon and saved about $70.00. (One free admission). If you go to the Entertainment website they list all coupons in the Hawaii book and you can search by island. We only used about 4 coupons but were happy with the savings.

I had an Entertainment book for my May trip to Maui and got my moneys worth from it. The problem I had was that some of the smaller restaurants did not take the coupons. I would recomend calling ahead to make sure they will take them.

lindajoy77, which restaurants in Maui and why, did they not take the coupons? The "rules of use" in the book state that all coupons are valid till Nov. unless stated otherwise on the coupon.
I'm only asking because we're probably going to use some on our trip.

ggrtist and others,
Here's some dialogue between Budman and myself about a company that doesn't honor the coupons in the book, so maybe that will give you just a bit of an answer:
I called their 800 number to make a reservation, and guess what??? They don't accept the coupons anymore. It'll cost you $55 a person, + tax.
Scratch that one off the list. I think I'll just watch the fireworks from the Hilton and then go out for a nice dinner.

BS is right! The young lady I talked with said they stopped taking the coupons as of 1 Jan 05 and somehow couldn't stop the ad before the book went to print. I can see how they would be losing money on this 2 for 1

Last night we were in downtown Ft. Myers. While I don't have an "entertainment book" I do have coupons from a "dining club" that are similar -- one free entre with purchase of one. I hunted up the two restaurants downtown that offered those deals. One had a "space for lease" sign on the door; they had clearly just gone out of business. The other place was now a lawyer's office!! We gave up on the coupon idea and finally entered a restaurant and the first thing I noticed was a big sign on the door:
"Sorry, we no longer accept entertainment book coupons."
I still maintain that for the most part, restaurants who offer two for one deals are either in trouble or aren't good enough to attract people willing to pay the normal price. I consider the entire concept one big joke. I have yet to go to a really good and popular restaurant that offers those deals -- they'd be stupid to do so, pure and simple.

I think, sometimes it is an out and out scam.
I picked up a coupon book at the LA rest stop a couple years ago, on the way to N.O.
We were taking some friends from France to see the sites. Well, in this coupon book, we saw and planned (by calling the # on the coupon), a gator Airboat Tour.
When we got there, they claimed they were in a lawsuit over the name of their Co. and that the coupon was for the OTHER Co.! Yeah Right...so why was THEIR # on the coupon?
Anyway, to avoid a scene, we paid the reg. rate (which was higher than that listed on the coupon) AND had no discount!
I would have walked away, but my sis was the 'head planner' and these were her friends before they were mine, if you get my drift.
I just can't stand a lier or a thief! Whew! Got that off my chest! Belle.

The only problem I had with the Hawaii Entertainment Book was the Sunset cruise on Oahu. The person I spoke to said they stopped subscribing to the book, and somehow the coupon got left in.
I saved $40 on the Holoholo sunset cruise which more than paid for the book. There's a lot of other good stuff in the book, but it is mostly geared toward Oahu and Maui.
I also never had any problems with the entertainment book from my local area. In fact, it more than paid for itself with dry cleaning coupons. It's also great for families with kids who frequent fast food places, donut shops, ice cream places, and the like.
Sorry others had bad experiences. Maybe the exception rather than the norm.

I worked for a restarant years ago that participated in a similar type coupon book. Apparently, these coupon companies are notorious for reprinting coupons in the next year's edition without the permission of the company in question. Then they attempt to charge the company using hard sell tactics. I guess a lot of companies choose to give in, rather than deal with the headache of explaining the matter to hundreds of irrate customers, considering a huge batch of the books have already been printed.

I'll be in Maui and Big Island in August. Are there coupons in the Entertainment book for those islands? Also, has anyone booked a car through Priceline? If so, what has your experince been? Thanks.
