Where was the very 1st GTG?

Where and when was the very first GTG?

And........why do we here in the south,,,who are supposedly the friendliest, not have a GTG somewhere?

Did you miss the GTG's in Florida?

The earliest on sfowlers website is 1999. Check out the pics from various old GTG's. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the 1999.

They were too far down in Fla....I am talking north Georgia, middle or east Tennessee, etc.

Starrsville and Syd have been trying to get on together in the Atlanta area, but haven't been successful so far.

I think the very first Fodors GTG was arranged by Monica Pilaggi, when several Fodorites met in Paris several years ago.

I think Monica has held several Washington DC. GTGs sence.

Looking at the pictures: it's hard to put faces behind the nicknames, I looked at the SF pics, and found only 2 familiar faces I met at the later SF GTGs. Also Art's real name is his nick. It makes 3.

Other pics: Rex is probably the only one who's nickname is the real name. It's difficult when only real names are posted.

In this part of the south we do have GTG's. I live in Texas and in the last year I've been to GTGs in Austin, Dallas and Houston. We've been trying to organize one in San Antonio, but we can't seem to find a good time for everyone.

Hello!

I had the first GTG in Paris May 1999. Since then, I've been having fodorite get together's here in the DC/MD/VA area, typically once a month or so. See my web site: http://www.luvtotravel.homestead.com/home.html Click on "Fodorites Corner." It's been so much fun having these get togethers! Next one in our area is in July.

Yes. It was certainly Monica in Paris, and later she organized several in N VA and posted photographs ... one I tried to attend but at the last moment had to travel out on business .... I telephoned. Ciao
