Entertainment Book
Does anyone know if there's plenty of valuable coupons in the Entertainment book that would make it worthwhile to purchase for our Hawaii trip? We already got a great deal on our hotel and airfare, so I'm mainly looking for deals on excursions and activities.

If you're in Honolulu, YES. For most of the other islands, there are only a few coupons. One of my friends offered me her Hawaii Entertainment Book when they returned. I looked through it, and since we'll be on the Big Island, I passed.

You can order an Entertainment Book at *entertainment.com* right now ....on sale for $10.00 plus $5.00 S&H. I can assure you it will be more than worth it to you. There are so many great deals in there, admittedly more so for Honolulu, but really, for a total of $15, you cannot go wrong! I save a bundle with my *E books.*

mlarson, the books all have some generic coupons that can be used anywhere (almost) but most of a book is devoted to a specific area/city. They have MANY! If you will go to *entertainment.com*, then click on the *view all books* area, you will see the one for Hawaii listed, which you can click on to buy. A total of $15.00 (incl. S&H) is a wonderful price!

You have a hotel, but I can't resist writing about our Waikiki Entertainment deal.
Aston Waikiki Circle, ocean front room, with the book, $99.
For us, this is the only place to stay in Waikiki. Sun sets while you lay in your bed. Hula right in front of the hotel, you can even watch the weekend movies from your balcony.
Here is a link to some bad pictures taken from the balcony.

Scubatv...I'm with ya..the hotel deals alone make the book invaluable! We have a 1bdr. full oceanview condo with Aston for $110. Last year booked an Outrigger oceanfront condo in Maui for the same price. Most of the hotels that offer 50% off, are with the Aston and Outrigger chains.
There are also discounts for most luaus on all of the islands and many snorkel/dinner cruise coupons.

If you have an Entertainment book for your city, can't you just call up the toll free number for hotels and get the same discount anywhere? I don't think you have to have the Hawaii book to get the Hawaii hotel discounts. Restaurant and activity coupons are another story.
ggrtist, would you recommend the Outrigger condo on Maui? We are a family of four and I am trying to plan a December trip to Maui and am researching hotels and condo's now. Currently, I am getting sticker shock. Was your $110 condo a one bedroom? (We will need two bedrooms) Even though the prices are higher during Dec. thats the time we have so I am trying to get as much value as possible
The plan right now is 2-3 nights at a fancy hotel for the pools/ environment experience and then a week in a condo for the space and ability to eat at "home".

WendyLynn, you're absolutely right! You can use your local book for the hotel/condo discounts anywhere. It's just the restaurants/attractions where you live that you need the local book for. Also, depending on when in December you want to go, it may be hard to get the discount!

hi wendylynn, well we stayed at Outrigger Napili Shores, we loved the location, snorkeling with turtles on one side and a great lil beach on the other. Unfortunately I don't think they have anything other than studios. The Aston also had quite a few properties on Maui. My suggestion would be to call central reservations for both chains, tell them you want entertainment rate and outline what your looking for, then they'll let you know what fits the bill. Be sure to let them know if you want a "swimming beach" as I've heard some are too rocky for that. Reviews on tripadvisor would be helpful in your decision too.
As Bonniebroad said, you can use any city's book for hotels, but we still saved a couple hundred dollars with activities and meals.

Thanks for all your help! We're staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Got a great deal. Only catch, have to listen to a 2hr timeshare sales pitch. But, if you're willing to deal with that, we got a one bedroom condo for 7 nites $1,100 ! Sweet deal for 2 hrs of suffering! I am excited about the condo vs. hotel room, we don't like eating out every nite. By the time you get in from your daily activities and/or beach, takes our family 2 hrs to get ready to go out to eat, and my kids are tired, and prefer to stay in the room and watch tv. So, we found ourselves getting food to go alot and coming back to the room and eating. So, condo sounded good to me. PLUS, it's our 25th wedding anniversary and we're bringing the kids. We felt a bedroom where you can close the door will give us a little more privacy than a hotel room with 2 double beds!!! I'll be happy to give more details to anyone interested in HHV stay for $1,100/7 nites.

OK, I went on and on in my previous message and forgot to ask my question. We're planning to hit: PCC (general admission, no night show), Hanahama Bay, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, and possibly a Catamaran 4 hr tour, and rent a car for 2 or 3 days only. Do you think with this itinerary we would get enough value out of an Entertainment book? I've found a Wrangler jeep for $53/day already.

Mlarson, if the E Book only costs you $15 totally, you will certainly get your money back.......... many times, if you take advantage of the coupons. You are going to be on Oahu for several days, and there are a ton of coupons in there for restaurants, attractions, all that good stuff! You can't go wrong! Let's say the PCC admission is $40.00, and you have a coupon to buy the first and get the second half-price, you save $20..... minus the $15 paid for the book, you're ahead $5.00 right there. The rest is gravy.... You have coupons for outstanding Waikiki/Honolulu restaurants, all kinds of things to see, to do all over the islands. It's a great deal that enough people don't take advantage of!
