Which Vegas Show - O or Blue Man Group

We are visiting the US from the UK and will be ending up in Vegas where we would like to take in a show. We were set on Blue Man Group but have seen the Fodorites views on O and wonder which one would be better ??

Love the advice on Travel Talk and will be asking more as our planning progresses.

Until someone jumps in with a better reply, I will put in my 2 cents.

I have not seen O, but I have seen Mystere (one of the other Cirque du Soleil shows). I thought Mystere was absolutely fantastic, and others have told me that O is even better.

I have seen Blue Man Group, and found the show to be fun; however, for the price, the talent and entertainment quality didn't compare to a show performed by Cirque du Soleil.

I don't know what the difference in price is for the two shows, but I have seen reviews indicating that BMG is over-priced. I have never heard a single negative comment about O.

Hi there--I've seen the Blue Man Group but not O--from what I've heard, and experienced, I would see O. I loved Follies Berger and would see that over BMG. Hope you enjoy a great trip!

I've seen Blue Man group and we didn't care for it. I've seen Mystere and La Noumba both Cirque Du Soleil shows and they were BEAUTIFUL. Definitely recommend them. If it were up to me I'd choose "O".

I greatly preferred O to Blue Man Group. They both have their merits, but O is just a spectacular, beautiful show. Another thought to consider -- Las Vegas is the only place where you can see O, whereas BMG has several US locations and is also expected to eventually show in London. I would never suggest choosing a show based on this alone, but if you're torn, it could be a factor...

I've only seen BMG, and I kinda felt queasy after I saw the show, thinking about the money I'd just spent on it! We could've eaten at the best restaurant in town for that and it would've been much better spent!

I've seen each of the shows mentioned above and would rank them: "O" > Mystere >>> BMG.
I was bored with BMG after a half hour and also did not feel it was a good value for the price.
Take a look at the number of performers, level of skill, and the stage set ups (including the hydraulic floor/pool) in "O" and compare with BMG. BMG has to be 90% profit. "O" is a technological marvel as well as being a highly entertaining and unique event.

Thanks Guys - you've been really helpful. I think we will go for O and try and catch BMG in London if they travel. Thanks Again. A

I wouldn't go to either show.

I've seen BMG (not in Vegas, at a conference elsewhere) - yawn.

I've also seen "O" (just before Bellagio opened, on an employee guest pass for their pre-opening performances, so it could have been changed since then) and didn't like it at all. I am not a Cirque de Soleil fan in general (at the time I didn't realize "O" was related), so that probably has something to do with it. For what it's worth, my sis-in-law (lives in LV, works at Mirage, brother works at Bellagio, hence the passes) didn't like it either.

I loved the "Riverdance" show at NYNY - I can't remember the name of it ("Lord of the Dance" maybe?).

David Copperfield was at Caesar's Palace and was terrific.

A "new" magician (sorry, his name escapes me) was at the Mirage last year and he was excellent.

Just a different view.

They are very different kinds of shows so it depends what you are looking for. BMG is fun and we loved it. We also saw Mystere. If I could have only done one it would have been Mystere..Enjoy!

BMG has troups playing concurrently in several cities. O, in contrast, is Vegas-only. No question in my mind at all: O.

Dfinitely O. I adored Mystere and Loved O. My DH liked Mystere better. Have not seen BMG, but previews and snippets tthat I have seen, did not appeal to me at all. As others have said, only in Vegas can one see O.

I have seen both and if I were to only pick one it would be O. In fact I've seen it twice and loved it both times, but then again I'm a Cirque Du Soleil fan. Mystere is also one of the better Cirque shows.

Blue Man Group wasn't exactly the same when it toured in Sacramento as it was when we saw them in Las Vegas (although it was about half the price). BMG is an experience, and as such needs to be kept in that context.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
