Embassy Suites Kauai ??

Hi,
Has anyone stayed at the Embassy Suites at Poipu? Any feedback you would like to share? Like how does it compare to some of the other larger properties, is it in good condition, hows the pool, etc. We stayed at the Marriott last time & while the pool is GREAT, we could have used more room & a larger lanai.
Thanks, Maxster

I walked throught the property about 3 years ago and it felt kinda run down. The pool area looks gorgeous in the brochure but in reality it is small and not well kept. The actual grounds are lovely but the units looked basic (peeked in a few windows while walking past)The beach is rocky and is unswimable, although there is a sandy area in front of the Hyatt next door. For me, it just didn't have any sparkle.

Yes, we own a timeshare at the Embassy and I would have to say the poster before me was wrong. The pool is not small (maybe compared to the Marriott it is) the condos are constantly being updated also. It is far from being run down. No there is no beach there it is located on rocky cliffs, but to hear the surf hitting at night is wonderful. The condos themselves are large (all 2 bedrooms or more) There are 2 tv's, one in the master bedroom and one in the livingroom. Washer and dryer in every unit, blender, coffeemaker, icemaker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, toaster, everything you need is there. As far as the pool - it is constantly kept up, someone is always raking the sand. They also purchased all new chairs for the beach in the last 3 years, also new umbrellas - Hope this helps

thank you - that does help! Do all the second bedrooms have twin beds, or do some have queens so that you can bring another couple?

Aloha, Most have twin beds in second bedroom. But the sofa does open to a queen size sleeper. I don't think I would want to sleep on that too long - those are never that comfortable but for kids it would be great. Can't wait we are headed there in 32 days!

Just spoke to my friend who worked there and stopped in to make sure our reservations were all in order (as they were!) anyway, since she moved to Oahu she hasn't been back to the Embassy till the other day! She was shocked at all the improvements! She said we will not believe it! Alot of the units have all new furniture the lobby is unbeliably beautiful as is the patio. She also told me they have added Polyinessean Dancers like a luau without the food! They are working on a playground for children - wow in 29 days I will see for my self! Also, I have been emailing the concierge there about activites we want and they are so helpful! I am excited!

We have stayed at the Embassy Poipu twice; Thanksgiving 2002 and Xmas 2003. The units are very well kept up as well as the grounds. The pool area is very well kept up and poolside bar/cafe has good wraps and specials. The staff at the Embassy go out of their way to assist you. We have stayed in the oceanfront units and the garden view units and both were very nice. They are not basic units by any means; they are large with spacious lanais. If you have small children, the pool is great as they can "walk" right out to the pool without the fear of falling off the side! There are daily activities for all ages. We travel quite a bit to Hawaii and have stayed at the Makaheuna, Kaha Lani, Pono Kai, Nihi Kai, Outrigger Plantation and the Aston Beach Villas. Embassy is our favorite, followed by the Makahuena as we love the view.
