East Hampton Lodging- near Main Beach
Does anyone know the name of the cottages across from Main Beach in East Hampton? They are sort of on the dunes, near the parking lot? Are they for rent?
If not, does anyone recommend a good place for a Sat night stay in August? Will hae bikes so don't need to be near beach but definitely want East Hampton or anything east of that up until Montauk.
THANKS!

Try Oceanview lodge in Montauk. Upstairs corner beachfront rooms have nice balcony, micr-fridge and it is 3 blocks from Main Street in town. Bike ride to the lighthouse is awesome about 5 miles each way. This is my FAV spot to visit.

Gee. I must have been hurried and harried when I posted my 1/10 message !!
I am looking for lodging info in the EH area. We have a wedding there in the Fall and need accomodations for 2 nights for several people. Thanks for any info.

Auntgrapes, usually the wedding party makes arrangements some place near the wedding venue & may get discount rates. Have you checked?
There are a number of options in East Hampton and if you have a car, even more options adding neighboring towns. I haven't seen the rooms in any of these places but have eaten in most.
High end
The Hunting Inn on Main St. houses the Palm Restaurant-outpost from NYC.
The Hedges Inn also has a rest. (James Lane Cafe-sister rets. to the Palm) & a nice position across from the town pond.
The Maidstone Arms, not far from there and the J Harper Poor Cottage (NOT a cottage but a very fancy place) are all nice.
The 1770 House is along the same stretch & was the most recently redone I think. It has a VERY expensive rest.
For more of a motel type place there are a few in Wainscott, the town just before East Hampton including Shady Pines Motel, Wainscott Motel & Cozy Cabins. Then on the east end of East Hampton leading into Amagansett there's East Hampton House motel & Dutch Motel. Then there are a number of motels in Amagansett.
There are tons of b&bs but I wouldn't recommend one w/o having stayed there as these can be a nightmare if the owners aren't good. Fdoors does have a section on the Hamptons. Where will the wedding be?

Mclaurie gave you all of the best options in East Hampton and around. The big hurdle you will have is that all of these places require a 2-3 night stay minimum, and they are not flexible. Since the Hamptons has become so much more high profile in the past few years, the places are booked up very quickly. There are also rooms available at THE POINT (EAST HAMPTON POINT) but that may be a little far to bike to Main Beach from. Try to reserve something quickly though.
