driving from Chicago to N.York

We are a group of 9( 5 between 15-22y), thinking in going from Chicago to N.Y in August for about 14 days. We would like to visit emblematic places and scenic views. We are drawing the trip by now but wanted to go for sure to the Niagara Falls and Boston. Can the fórum bring any suggestions?

Not sure where you can stay with teens that young.

My understanding is that most hostels don;t want kids under the age of 18. And there is no way a hotel would provide rooms for a group like this unless you give them a VERY large security deposit. If they will let you stay at all. Many hotels require guests be 21 unless they are staying with parents/other adults.

Also you will nee passports or equivalent to see Niagara Falls (all of the best stuff is on the canadian side). And not sure kids under 18 are allowed to enter Canada without a parent or similar responsible adult).

Don;t mean to be discouraging but you really need to look into these rules/regs before spending a lot of time planning.

Thank you nytraveler.
Well we are two couples and the kids are ours. We´ve been already in Oregon, Califórnia, Nevada, Arizona, New México, Conn & NY and had never had a single problem with accommodation...Usually we stay in 3 bedrooms.
As europeans we all have electronic passports; it should be enough to enter Canada.
The Falls are my biggest concern. Do you think in mid August we can cross the bridge to Canada and return in a few hours?
I appreciate all the help.

Sorry - the way it's written it looks like a group of all kids (or perhaps I just read too early in the am).

Yes, you can cross into Canada in a few hours - but it really deserves an overnight to see much (and hotels in Canada are much more pleasant - and several have great views of the falls from floor to ceiling windows).

But, if on a busy weekend day in summer - there can be a wait of more than an hour to cross the border.

And do the passports allow for multiple entries to the US (have no idea how this works since our rules are so different).

Our teens loved going to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. It's a large amusement park on Lake Erie. It's less than 6 hours from Chicago. Spending a day there would be a bit of a change from sightseeing.
