Re: navy wool coat
When you find yourself caught in a navy coat, the best you can do is where all black underneath. That navy will be the color to break up the unrelenting blackness of being~
I see that in London all the time, btw.

Scarlett, I KNEW it was Santana! I have had a pair of tall black flat-heeled boots of theirs for probably 15 years. They still look like new and are incredibly warm and comfortable! I rarely wear them here in Ca. Myabe I'll shop for a new pair on my upcoming NY trip.

Oh yeah, on the original topic: While I am as fond of black and of "fitting in" as anyone, I actually get sort of a kick out of wearing brighter colors in NY. I just know the black clothing brigade is looking at me and thinking "California" -- Well, I'm a born-again Northern Californian, and proud of it!

blh, you will be admired, mostly out of towners wear strictly black. Shop Barney's Berdorf, Soho, the chic women are not shopping black. Check the Sunday NY Times for what they are wearing.""
Quality is more important, as is good taste. If color was out, all shops would go out of business.
And Black I love too but finding a wonderful simple not sleeveless dress is difficult to find in shops today.
This year, tweeds are being shown. For an every day coat, You are better off with black, camel or brown. (Depending on the colors in your wardrobe) Fashion should be fun and the feel of natural fabrics is wonderful. Wishing you a wonderful time Liebelily.

The NYTimes may be talking color but the ladies are wearing black.
Today I saw one woman in a non black outfit and that was her Burberry checked jacket over her all black sweater/pants outfit. Even the children are wearing black
Regarding that peach/pink jacket someone wore-there were more than a few ladies out today in jeans/trousers and turtlenecks with their camel jackets and a nice Hermes sort of scarf around their shoulders.
Scarlett was wearing black trousers, dark red long sleeve tee with a black cardigan and a black quilted jacket with red lining
What did you wear today?

P.S. Uggs are big in NYC and all over N.E because of our cold winters.

I wore my bathing suite and went to the beach. Does it count that my sarong was black?
