Which is in a better location and which is nicer???? The Pacific Plaza and the Pioneer Square Hotel(Best Western)?????

The Pioneer Square Hotel has more character, as does its neighborhood.The Squre has attractive "historic" (well, for Seattle, historic) buildings. The neighborhood clubs/bars and the surrounding streets are a bit overun by frat boys on weekend nights. That may or may not make a difference to you. Otherwise, the neighborhood has pleasant cafes, a few restaurants, and the Elliot Bay Bookstore - the best in town. Also,Pioneer Square is just a few blocks from Chinatown/International District, a neighborhood with great character and much great food. The Pacific Plaza is surrounded by fairly bland office buildings, but you can easily walk to more interesting streets.

Neither would be my first pick (helpful, right?) but in a pinch I'd go with the Pioneer Square Hotel, mainly because the PP is old with small rooms (aka "European-style"), and no air conditioning, which means you have to crack a window. There's the rub - across the street Seattle's new library (be afraid) is being erected with banging and hammering nonstop. The Pioneer Square property is also new-old and has the disadvantage of being located pretty much beneath a freeway, but its location is otherwise superior, all things considered.

Allow me once more to harp on Priceline.com for good hotel deals in Seattle.

Hi Larz, I've never stayed in either hotel, but the Pacific Plaza is much more centrally situated. If you're looking for value, check out the Camlin and Claremont which should be reasonable and are also located near the places you will want to visit.

I used priceline for Seattle. I bid 4 nights 4*. I was accepted by Elliot Grand Hyatt. It was the most posh, fabulous hotel I haver ever stayed at!
FYI it is supposedly better than the Four Seasons in Seattle.
