I think that Neo stumbled on something very interesting - the OP says on FlyerTalk that they arrived on the MORNING of the check-in date. I'm wondering if they asked to check in early, and were irritated when were told "no" and then were more irritated when they were told that Cabin 6 would not be available at all the first night.
TTP is so right about how different folks handle different situations.
I've been "walked". I've never jumped up and down with excitement because of it, but understand it happens. Now that we know that the OP is a frequent traveler it is more interesting that a confrontation resulted.
Heck, he could have had 6 hours or so, enjoying the beach, enjoying a cool one, having a great lunch or doing a bit of sightseeing and been accomodated at his original choice - albeit in a different cabin for one night.
His sharing that they "toured" the rest of Longboat Key, Siesta Key and Anna Maria Island makes me wonder if the touring was looking for a place that had availablity - or as Neo said, a place they liked better than the original location.
Sure wish the OP would return to clear up the mysteries.

Now I'll just add to all of this. Linger Longer is on Bradenton Beach and it sits directly on the highway not back off 30 or 40 feet but directly on the side with 3 stories (I think). It looks very nice but I, for one, would not like the area it's located in. There's a shell shop across the street, a restaurant next to that, a Moose lodge across from the restaurant and a fair amount of traffic. The area looks noisy! Not at all what the OP said he was looking for.

TTP - I've seen some pretty experienced travelers make the same scenes as the ones you describe. I don't think it's usually a matter of experience, or lack thereof, but rather temperament. Some people just think the universe centers around them and expect everyone else to do the same.

LN, what are you telling us? The place they refused because it was just a parking lot away from the "unbusy" highway was replaced by a wonderful place right in the middle of traffic? Huh???
There must be about a hundred possible places to stay between Rolling Waves and Linger Longer. One can't help but wonder the true story behind refusing the first and "finding" the second.
Does anyone else wonder if the true story is that when the poster arrived "in the morning" that they were offered # 2 because the "promised" #6 wouldn't be available until 3 PM?
