1. San Francisco - besides the beauty of the city you also have wine country, highway 1, and the national parks nearby.

2. New Orleans - If history, architecture, music and partying are more to your liking.

3. Santa Fe or Sedona - If the desert west is more to your liking.

4. Boston/DC - If you just love that old eastern big city feel.

5. Las Vegas - If your idea of fun is man made neon in the middle of the desert.

Well, the replies seem to have dried up now so here's the top 5:
SF 11x
DC 11x
Las Vegas 8x
Santa Fe 6x
Boston/LA/NO 5x
Think we'll go west. Couple of days in Las Vegas sounds fun and then off to San Francisco. Tnaks all.

I really like the Monterey and Carmel area when I was out there a few years ago. I would highly recommend these areas in the west. I also liked the San Diego area but only stayed a couple of days. If you choose Las Vegas, maybe you could fit in a side trip to Lake Tahoe area or the Grand Canyon.

I also have been to Chicago and really loved it. But I have to say that I would pick Boston or DC if it was my last chance to come to the US. Lots of history and millions of things to do in either place. The surrounding areas of each city also offer lots of things to do if you want to do some side trips.

Good Luck and have fun.

I would definitely pick Boston, I think it has an incredible modern/historic blend and is av ery walkable and beautiful city in a very European way.

Washington DC
San Fransisco
Seattle
San Antonio
Boston
New Orleans

In that order. I encourage trying the west since it has a very different feel from the east coast. San Antonio might be fun. Washington DC is fantastic, the Smithsonians are wonderful for everyone.

Whereever you decide have fun!
