Doesn't Anyone Just Relax on Vacation?

Nope, not me! I love to travel. For me, traveling is about experiencing new places, cultures, and people. I couldn't imaging wasting my vacation time (this is my opinion about my vacation time, so no offense to anyone) sitting on a beach somewhere. I would be bored after an hour. I don't know...I guess I'm just not a beachy person. I would rather spend my vacation exploring a little town in Europe somewhere. Granted sometimes I need a vacation from my vacation once I get back, but the experiences I get are more than worth it.

I'm with Miramar and Utahtea -- I travel to see and experience new places and things, not lounge around. I can do that at home. Vacation time is so limited that I like to make the most of it.
BTW, just curious as to which hotels you stay in that allow you to sleep late? Even with the "Do Not Disturb" signs on the door, we still hear the guests banging their doors, chattering in the hallways, stomping around overhead, and the maids running the vacuums early in the morning. No point in even trying to sleep late.

I am like some of the others, it depends on the destination. This summer I am doing 1 of each. Next week, we are doing a roller coaster conference in Ohio, where we go from morning thru night almost every day & maybe take 1/2 day break in the middle of the week to recuperate & then finish off the week being on the go again. Then at the end of July we are going to OC,MD were we will relax on the beach & in the ocean during the day & then do a few leisurely things in the evening.

Like placeu2, I'm a active vacationer. The places I chose to go are places I want to explore and I do. I'm also a photo enthusiast so I'm up early and early to bed.
I also live in the cold climate of upstate New York. Winters are long and dark here and that's when I do my reading and relaxing.
For me to spent hard earned $$ to go on vacation and sit and read just seems like an incredible waste of expensive time. I'm an explorer when I'm on vacation.
The beauty of a vacation is that it is your time...yours to do with as you please. If you want to spend it sitting and reading or sleeping late then that's what you should do. I'm all for it.
