Does Anyone Know Anything about the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa?

Sorry if this is a repeat for some-- I forgot to select "California".

Meeting up with a sister-in-law in this area to do some exploring. Don't plan to spend a lot of time at the hotel, but would like a nice place. This looks very good online, but I'd appreciate hearing from people who have experienced it or live in the area. Thanks in advance.

Where is everyone? Are all you California folk at the beach?

Its a big conference/business hotel near the Freeway. I guess it's central to Orange County but I'm not sure why you would want to stay there.

Stayed there once on a low weekend rate...I'd say it's NOT as nice as it looks online (unless they've renovated in the last year). It's one of those old, renovated-20-times places that is a bit rough around the edges but perfectly clean and comfortable, kinda antiseptic and cookie cutter is how I'd describe it. There is a nice open-atrium bar and restaurant, the rooms are smallish but not cramped.

As I recall there is a pay parking garage, and it is located in a business-park type area with a few other hotels nearby, and a huge shopping mall and several restaurants within about a half mile. It was very easy to hop on the 55 and get down to Newport Beach and back.

The reason I was considering it was that it was central and also seemed like a good value compared with the other hotels in the area. I don't think we'll be spending a lot of time at the hotel. Anyone have any other suggestions for a reasonable, clean decent place to stay?
