costa do sauipe
Has anyone been to Costa do Sauipe? We have an opportunity to go here and stay at the Marriott. Is this just a beach resort? Are there attractions nearby that I might see, i.e. scenery, birds, etc. The only thing I have found in researching this forum is that this is very American and not all that great. Any info will be appreciated.

I have been to Costa Do Sauipe - I stayed at the Breezes there for a week last year. Because I was doing some work while I was there, I did not have time to do any real site seeing beyond the resort area. I do know that from our hotel there were day trips that went to Salvador. I have heard that is an interesting area and I would recommend reading about that. As far as the Costa Do Sauipe area, it was very pretty. The beach is long and unspoiled...the hotels are lower rise and sit back from the beach so you can't really see them from the beach. The beach goes on for a long time. We were there in March and it was completely dead. There were days we were the only people on the beach. It was very pretty. There is a small little town area you can walk to from the hotels. There were some shops and an area where they had some live music (like a town square). As far as being "American"....I beg to differ. We didn't even encounter people that spoke English....it was interesting considering we don't speak portugese! The people were very nice. The area consists of 5 hotels all together in a complex with a long beach. It was nice and I would go back.
