The bottom line is that any "security" activity done inconsistently, unsystematically or without a well thought out plan decreases the amount of time and effort that could be used for a better purpose. Whatever happened to the mantra that "anything worth doing is worth doing right"?. Passengers are at risk and have a right to point out problems they observe.

If Airport Security can feel around my bra (with me in it), then they can search your wallet. In fact, if I had a choice I would have preferred they search my wallet!

nothing like the little metal clasps to set off the detectors. ive realized this is part of travel now and have been fortunate that it is always by a female officer, who asks and tells me what she is doing and where she is placing her hands.

the wallets, the carry ons with feminine products on display, who cares. wait to you get patted down, shoes removed and felt up on a business trip with 3 male coworkers standing by!

You're right, anyone with privacy issues, don't fly. It must be traumatic for the highly modest.

nina-LOL! most of my "female officers" have also been a little scary, or large! i would not argue with them. almost would feel better if the handsome armed national guard men offered first!

I agree with improved security procedures, and I agree with completely random screening, because if there's profiling, then the terrorists know exactly how to get around security. However, I don't agree with stupid security, and security people (can't bring myself to call them officers) who think they are all-powerful. For instance, I was behind a guy who was obviously on leave from the military (jar-head haircut, duffle bag containing his clothese, dog tags, etc). They pulled his bag to search. When they pulled out the perfectly folded stuff, they just rifled through it all. And then when they were finished, and the Marine said "That's okay, I'll put it back in myself", they told him no, and proceeded to stuff everything, now wrinkled and in a ball, back into the bag.

I've also seen male security officers pull only attractive young women out of line for a pat down. I believe now they have only women search women and men search men, but that's only a recent development.

Since they can't search and iterrogate everyone, profiling would work best.

Then they could target potentially more dangerous individuals. Profiling "is not just how they look, but also would include how they act and anything else that might raise suspicion).

Most people would agree that El-Al offers the best security. We need not go to their extremes, but we could learn a lot from them.

Unfortunately, the US is too "politically correct" to do profiling.

If you want to fly, you better be prepared to be searched and for crying out loud, please quit bitching about it.

Do they have the right? Absolutely. You go into the airport and through any security knowing that this may happen. Why is this such a surprise?

good god, you'd think you never got a good feel up in the back seat of c 454 chevy. relax and let is happen - it's good for the country, and good for you too. maybe if you're selected, you can take it as a compliment. Staying postive is part of the game these days. So, get in line and stand tall and be ready. Or else you'd better get that driving map out and the vehicle gased up.

Instead of one airport searching wallets and another doing only a cursory glance why not get security to be more consistent.

The inconsistencies in airport security show that their is a lack of conrol at the top and/or poor training.

Shouldn't airport security be uniform throughout the country?...even in secondary and terciary markets.
