Dinner in Buffalo, NY
Hi all,
We'll be in Buffalo this week-end, visiting our son who is at UB.
I've read about The Anchor Bar for chicken wings, but wondered about a casual place to get a good steak.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

The best place in Buffalo for a steak is the Buffalo Chophouse on Franklin Ave - www.buffalosbestrestaurants.com It is pricey ($30 and up for a cut) but well worth the cost. Most customers dress business casual.
Another suggestion is Mother's restaurant on Virginia Pl. It is a much more casual atmosphere, with a bar area on one side of the building and the restaurant on the other. The menu is very extensive, and the food is fantastic.
A final suggestion is Harry's Harbour Place Grille - it is located off of Niagara St on the Niagara River. I'm a bit partial to this place because I had my wedding reception here... Anyways, the food is top notch and there are nice views of a boat harbor and Canada across the way.

Here are a few more suggestions. Scotch and Sirloin is not far at all from UB (I'm assuming you're visiting the Amherst campus), on Maple Rd in Amherst. I haven't been there in years, but hear that the food is good. Also, Kennedy's Cove on Main St. in Clarence is very casual (and kind of old fastioned) and the steaks are good. The Eagle House on Main St. in the Village of Williamsville is also good. Lebro's on Campbell Blvd. in Amherst is also close to the campus and has good food in a casual atmosphere, but I'm not sure what their steaks are like. They are known for other specialties (Italian). ELmo's on Millersport right behind the campus has excellent chicken wings as does Duff's on Sheridan at Millersport. Buffalo has great restaurants with great food, so enjoy!

Ha! Buffalogirl....you are right on the money with your tight budget remark. I'm surprised at the amount of cash this kid has gone through in one month.....
Talked w/him, he said he wants to take us to "Fudruckers". Never have been to one. I'll let you all know where we end up. Thanks again!

Tricia, men and boys with hearty appetites all seem to love Fuddruckers! I haven't been there in a looooooooong time, but I know they're big on burgers. My teenage son has been there with friends and loves it! (You won't get your steak dinner there, though)!
Have fun!
