All true, Ilisa. No troll, lol. Now remember, I put him in first class, and in those days they allowed me to take him onboard and get him seated. When I left he had this fabulous stew on his right, ready to entertain him for the 90 minute non-stop. He also had his cute little tool set, and in my final glimpse I recall he was busy dismantling the seat in front of him. He had a ball, and we laugh to this day. But the day didn't get off to such a great start - I accidently closed his thumb in the sliding door of the VW. But no damage since it was so tiny, thank goodness!! Kids are tough!! He loves it I took the risk and didn't smother him with too many precautions. He has returned the favor by supplying some excellent herb!

The spog fends for himself. He says he is a man and wants to stay home which is fine with us. Taking a vacation without the boy is peaceful. I am tired of the kid complaining and getting on my nerves. When we get back from our trip the kid acts better and keeps his smart mouth shut.
KIDS SHOULD BE SEEN NOT HEARD!!!!

The focus here seems to be the fact that parents "deserve" time away from the kids, and so they do.

My situation, many years ago, my parents knew my caretakers very well, but most of my time was spent with the couple's son, a few years older than I. Those of you who remember Eddie Haskell on "Leave It to Beaver" know the type. He was sweet and condescending to adults, but in private, he quite literally, tortured me.

Needless to say, when I complained, I was accused of being a whiner, which I probably was. The guy is dead now, of a drug overdose, but I still find it hard to forgive those who dumped me on this nutcase.

I could go on and on, but a warning to parents planning to leave their kids with others. Make sure you trust completely everyone who will be in responsible for your children.

Couldn't agree with you more. I had a similar experience though it was just for an evening out. Guess they were desperate but I still can't get over it. They left us with a disturbed neighbor boy who eventually stalked me (before stalking was identified as a crime)and later in his life was kicked out of the army for cavorting with underaged girls. At the time it was all I could do to hold it together until they got home. I stayed awake in fear. I still think it was thoughtless and selfish to do that to us, when they knew he had problems, just because they couldn't find another babysitter.

Those stories just confirm why I never leave my children with anyone other then their grandmothers or aunts overnight. I also would never leave girls with a male babysitter for the evening and certainly not overnight!

My parents only left us with our grandparents, we do the same (I suppose we're lucky that our mothers are able to help out), and I'm quite sure that when our kids have kids, I'll return the favor and continue the tradition!
