Denver Hotel: Residence Inn or JW Marriott?
We are planning to spend 2 nights in Denver at the end of June as part of the end of a 10 day long vacation through Utah and Colorado. We wanted a nice hotel (under $180/night) in Denver that was near things to do or places to walk around.
We have narrowed our choices down to either:
the Residence Inn City Center on Champa Street in downtown Denver
- OR -
the JW Marriott Denver at Cherry Creek
They both appear to be fairly new facilities and both get generally rave reviews on Trip Advisor.
Does anyone have any opinions about each, any pluses or minuses of each, and/or any any advantages of staying in downtown Denver versus the Cherry Creek area?
Thanks.

I hate it when folks answer this way, but here goes anyhow!
I don't know either of these specific properties but do know that JW Marriott's are really nice -- much nicer than Residence Inns -- in general.
Also, Cherry Creek is really nice area.
Have you looked on tripadvisor or yahoo travel for reviews on either?
Hope this helps [some]...

Both hotels deserve their great reviews from what I hear. I work with consultants who stay at the Residence Inn City Center who rave about the hotel. I can't believe the amenities that they offer - free drinks, even dinner on weeknights, shopping for longterm guests, great business and fitness facilities. They say the staff is great and the location can't be beat, just two blocks from the free 16th St. Mall Shuttle which will take you anywhere worth going downtown!
Nevertheless, I do love the Cherry Creek neighborhood. It's full of trendy boutiques and restaurants/bars in a more residential setting, about a ten-minute taxi from downtown. It's adjacent to the Cherry Creek Mall, a high-end retail plaza.
At either location, you're going to be within walking distance of many types of restaurants, bars and shopping. Downtown (LoDo in particular) is a more happening place for nightlife, so if that's your criteria, then maybe that's better for you. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong!

Thanks all! It sounds like either one would be great and each has a lot to offer depending on exactly what we want to see and do. A tough choice for sure.
I appreciate everyone's input. We'll try to make a final choice shortly.
