Day in Key West
We live in South FLorida and will be visiting Key West as part of a cruise later this month. Our experinces in Key West surround Sloppy Joes at night!! Any ideas on things to do between 8am and 2pm. Not interesting in snorkling/beach as we are doing this in COzumel. I was thinking of bars/retaurants to do after my wife buys her Keno sandals. Thanks in advance

Key West is a terrific cruise stop.Too bad you won't be there for sunset -- view of the activities on Malory Sq. are lots of fun from board ship. Take a walk, go to a museum, take a tour, shop, shop -- I like the light house view, Fisher's museum, visiting hotels (surveying for later trips). No eating after cruising!!

You could tour Hemmingsway's house. It has about 70 cats!!! You could rent a Spree and tour the town, look at the beautiful homes, and see the sites. There is also a very informational trolley tour. Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville is great!!!

Like the poster above, if you're interested in tourist stuff I'd advise you to take the Conch Train Tour as soon as you arrive. It'll give you a good overview of Key West and provide some info about places you might want to visit the rest of the day. It takes about an hour and a half. I would definitely NOT waste time on Sloppy Joe's!! It's pretty much a tourist haven but not much more. If it's bars you're after, you only need to walk up and down Duval. The bartender at Mangoes (I can't think of his name now, maybe it's T.K.) is famous for all sorts of cool drinks. If you want to go to a clothing optional bar, try the top floor of the Bull (corner of Duval and Caroline) or head on down to the Atlantic side of the island to Atlantic Shores...it's got a clothing optional pool.
I love the food at Half Shell Raw Bar; it's always our first stop in Key West. It's very casual and has the freshest fish in the world. It's in Key West bight...just turn left on Front Street after you get off the boat. Good luck!

Where is Blue Heaven? What kind of food do they have?
As to the Bull, will it be open between 9am and 2pm. What kind of crowd can we expect?
Due to the fact that we live in Miami and can get back there often, we may just do a duval street bar crawl for drinks and conch fritters after buying some sandals.

Blue Heaven is located in Bahama Village not near Duval Street but well worth it. They have a website http://www.blueheavenkw.homestead.co..._Key_West.html. If you search Blue Heaven you'll see lots of discussion about it.

I would just take the day to take in the sights of Key West. We just got back from a week long trip to the Keys and spent a whole day walking around KW gazing at the beautiful houses, marina, and historical spots that abound it.
