In D for one day - tell me the top 2-3 sights to see, visit, things to do, please. Heading out tomorrow, need a fast answer today if you can. Have all the restaurant info I need. Thanks in advance.

Do a search here on Dallas. Just a month or so ago, this very question got a lot of responses and then you'll have your question answered almost instantly!

Go to the West End, have a drink at the top of the Hyatt, go to the 6th Floor Museum.

Hop on the highway and head to the Stockyards in Ft. Worth.

6th Floor museum is a must must. Allow a couple of hours. Unfortunately, it is what Dallas is remembered for in many peoples minds. It is a moving exhibit.

I think when xxx said go to the top of the Hyatt for a drink, they meant the top of Reunion Tower, also owned and operated by the hotel, but a separate structure adjacent to the hotel. The "ball" has an observation deck, restaurant, and bar and the view goes forever. If you do go...picture someone hanging by their knees from those girders surrounding the exterior of the ball, as one rejected lover once did, in an attempt to get his gf's attention (she was waitstaff at the restaurant). They did get him in in one piece, but to come back in, he decided to *jump* back to the building, a distance of several feet!

Dallas isn't much of a touring city, IMHO. 6th Floor definitely. West End is just a very commercialized, touristy, developed "historic district". I understand the new aquarium there is quite good but haven't done it myself. We enjoy the Arboretum, but that's a ways from downtown. You might want to walk through the downtown Neimans store, the first of the chain and still the flagship store. They should be gearing up for Christmas.

with only 1 afternoon free in Dallas last year I headed straight for the musueum. This year with one evening free I went to the Galleria mall - no big deal.

depends on what you want to do and how you enjoy spending your time. cool clubs, tourist places, were the locals hang out, relaxing, fast pace AND do you have a car?

My God! The top attraction in this run-down city is still the for-profit museum dedicated to raising money for assasinating president Kennedy forty years ago. What a God-forsaken city this is.

Gene-

It's sad that people have to put down another city to feel better about where they live. Does Cape stand for Cape Cod? If so, I would rather be in Dallas anyday than overpriced, depressing Cape Cod.

I'm not from Dallas. I am from Houston so I guess I just have pride for my state.

For a true taste of Dallas, might I suggest renting an SUV and sitting out on the freeway stuck in traffic. Welcome to Big D!

Jen, you just put down Cape Cod while chastising everyone about puting down a city so you can feel better about where you live.

You're right that was hypocritical. I guess I just get annoyed that a lot of people on this board put down Dallas and Houston.
