Construction at Kingsmill Williamsburg?

Is anyone aware of construction going on at Kingsmill in Williamsburg, VA? I just booked a room and received a decent discount because the riverfront room is in the "construction zone". The construction was described as repairs to the waterfront area. I envisioning barges and pile driving. We'll be gone from the room for most of the day so I'm not concerned about noise as much as I'm hoping to be able to sit out on the balcony in the evening and see the river with too much of an obstruction. Naturally the reservationist assured it this would be okay but I would love to hear from anyone who has stayed there recently. TIA

I don't know exactly what they are doing on the riverfront. The beach and marina have been closed since Isabel so I haven't been down there in a while. I will try to ride down there in the next couple of days and check it out. There is quite a bit of construction going on all over the resort but it shouldn't affect your stay very much unless you were planning on playing golf on the River Course. Renovations will keep it closed until 2005. The rooms at the resort are lovely and large. Many have just been renovated. The Marina restaurant is closed but the other 3 are open. The spa and sports club areas are finished. Bring your tennis racquets and bikes if you can. Enjoy your stay.

Thank you Birdie - that's very generous of you. The reservationist mentioned that they were repairing damage from a hurricane. I understand that there will be residential construction going on but we don't care about that. The only golf we intend on playing is on the Brays Links with the kids. Thanks again for checking it out.

It looks like the heavy construction is finished and that they just need to seed or sod a swath of dirt leading to the river. I heard that they are installing a walkway along the river but I'm not sure when they are going to finish that. At the present time it appears that there is not any active construction going on behind the condos. There are barges at the marina down river from the condos but that shouldn't affect you.

Birdie - I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to check this out for me. It was incredibly generous of you.

Sounds like we'll be okay. I can't wait to get there. I've been dieing to stay at this resort since I first saw it about 8 years ago. I have a feeling this won't be our last trip here.
