Interested in renting a condo in hawaii- any island for our 5th anniversary. We are on a limited budget & thought this would be a good way to go. On our honeymoon we went to Maui & loved it. Stayed in Wailea, while it was beautiful, we found it to be far from restaurants and the other towns with more going on. Any suggestions for condos? restaurants? sights? Thanks!

Travelcb, in order to get recommendations you need to be more specific about what you are seeking. If you are saying you want to be close to restaurants and activity, have you considered
Waikiki?

If you were in Wailea 5 years ago the Shops at Wailea probably weren't open then. There are 4 restaurants there now not to mention nearby Joes and SeaWatch.

I do not know much about Waikiki. From pictures it looks like a city atmosphere - not really what I am looking for. We liked Lahina in Maui. Has anyone had good experiences with renting a condo in Hawaii?

Just returned from Maui where we rented a lovely condo in the Napili area. It is out of the way and less crowded, but that is what we preferred. Kanapali and Lahaina have more nightlife and restaurants. I have found Maui to be very crowded and this was a way to get out of the crowds. The sites that were recommended are fine, but if you want to stay in a nice two-story condo commplex right on the shore- beach around the bend- Napili Bay great beach, the name is Napili Point Resort. There are private lanais, a cove with great snorkeling and turtles to see! One bedroom was $ 230 a night I think- with or without car depending on the season. Check the website for prices- do google. I am sure you can find condos cheaper, but for the location and quality I thought it was excellent. There are not many restaurants up this way, but we found it hard to leave.We cooked quite a bit and did not have to spend lots of miney on medicore food.THere are several other condos in the area that might be less expensive.

We stay at the Aston Mahana condos just north of Kaanapali (beside the Embassy Suites) every year -- usually in March. Every condo is ocean front. In the morning you can open the front door and watch the sun come up over the West Maui Mountains. In the evening you can sit on your lanai and watch the sunset over Lanai and Molokai. The rooms are clean and well appointed. You won't be sorry booking this one. We leave for same in 6 days, 11 hours!
