Although the Beacon has recently been redone it is not an upscale hotel - and may not have a concierge - but perhaps only a bell captain. I would definitely call them and identify a specific person if you need something special done.

Thanks for the tips. I am in Australia but will be in New York end August and was hoping i could organise tickets to the Yankees while there. Never been to a baseball game before. There are none except the very expensive ones left on the Yankees site. Never stayed at the Beacon, just booked it over the net.
Thanks

Probably the best way is through StubHub for Yankee tickets, but they WON'T be cheap, and depending on who they are playing the tickets can be even more expensive and/or hard to get.
The end of August is the end of the season and if they are heading toward the playoffs tickets will be very difficult to get, so if you want to see a game, get the tickets NOW.

www.stubhub.com (stubhub is very reliable. I got a ticket last season and it was $60 for a good seat in the old stadium.
Good luck.

Probably the only ones left anywhere are the expensive ones. All the concierge will do for you is to go to one of the scalpers - and then you have to tip him too (if there is one). Do go to stubhub.com and check out what they have available. I think they have a schematic of the stadium so you can locate tickets - if not go to the schematic on the Yankees site to see if anything will be visible from the seats you get.

Thankyou both very much. I have never heard of this site, but it could not have been easier.
I have boooked two tickets they confirmed and i was even able to download them here in Brisbane without having to have the tickets sent to and address in the U. S. and possibly getting lost.
I will use them for some show tickets too.
Once again , Thankyou.

A suggestion for your trip to the Stadium, take the subway, or if you want something a bit more memorable, there is a ferry that leaves from 34th St and the East River and goes to the Stadium, a nice way to see the city too.
Get to the stadium EARLY so you can take a tour of the monuments and see some of the players at batting practice. Also there are now ALOT of food options at the stadium. Part of the experience of the game, is eating a hotdog, and some of the junk food from the vendors that walk through the park with cotton candy, peanuts, beer, ice cream and popcorn. Fun to see the way they get the food out.
Have a great time.

Parisio, a little baseball tip from one Aussie to another:
The security at US sporting events, including Yankees games, is incredible. You should try to take as little with you to the stadium as possible. Forget taking a backpack, they won't let you take it in. Also forget taking drinks or any other liquid. Here's a link to the security policy for the Yankees: http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/nyy/b...k/security.jsp
It's still a great day out - I'm sure you'll love it once you get past the gate.

If you are looking for show tickets, check telecharge or ticketmaster first! These are the official sellers, and prices are better. Both sites allow you to have the tickets E-mailed or held at will call. I would only use stub hub for show tickets if it was a completely sold out show that you really want to see (the only sold out shows right now would probably be Jersey Boys, Billy Elliot, Wicked, and possibly Lion King.) If you would like tickets to other shows, wait a few weeks and August discounts will start popping up on broadwaybox.com.
