W New York - anybody been there?

I'm staying at the W Hotel in New York tonight. The room was arranged by a friend. What can I expect there?

This is the W NY, on 49th and Lex. (Not the Court, Tuscany, Times Square, etc)

W, your title is very confusing. I thought you were asking a question about Western New York, as in Buffalo and Rochester. Since you need answers in a hurry you might try posting under W Hotel, NYC.

Sorry that the name of the hotel is confusing but the actual name of the actual hotel is "W New York". Thus my title is very specific in listing the exact name of the hotel, and the city that the hotel is in.

If you don't know what the "W" chain of hotels is, then that's not my problem. If I was interested in Western New York I would have asked, specifically, for information Western New York, or "Buffalo hotels".

W you are a very unpleasant person.

With your attitude you probably will not receive the info you are trying to obtain on this board.

People will not want to take the time to help someone who is so rude!

Hi, not sure what the problem is - The post seems clear to me (and, if you don't understand a post, why not just skip it instead of correcting the poster or worse yet, whining about it?)

Anyway, I looked at this hotel on citysearch.com "W" you can check the reviews and some photos at http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7160223/ it looks really nice! Have a great time.

Meow and Arf, you are both idiots to think that this thread is about Western New York State. I am not sorry to have troubled you. I am a very specific person, and I ask a direct question about a specific hotel, and I use the exact hotel name. If you were expecting an ambiguous post about Rochester or Buffalo (hahaha! what are the odds that someone is traveling THERE!!!) you've come to the wrong post.

The only people who will think that this is a topic about Buffalo are going to be people from Western New York. Anybody from a city that has a W will immediately understand the question.

The W is a smallish chain owned by a larger chain. It tries to be "boutiquey" and "hip". This particular hotel is reputed to have small rooms and lousy service. If anybody can add anything that would be great. If not, I really don't care becuase at least I'll be in Manhattan with friends and not sitting in front of my computer in Buffalo!!!!!

Thanks for the info re: citysearch.

Can't wait for the weekend.

Kathy, there are 5 "W Hotels" in New York City. My title "W New York" specifies the exact hotel instead of the "W The Court" or "W Times Square", etc.

Hey pinhead, if you know so much about the chain, why are you asking here? Do a search on the site first, as there have been many posts, pro and con, about the various W's in NYC.
BTW, W is a Starwood brand, the same guys who own Sheraton.

Dear anon,

I did do a search on this site, but came up with 1000s of posts and none of them clearly indicated the W New York. (I did find one for the W Times Square) I looked at the rants and raves as well.

Thanks for the tips though!!!

W's are very 'trendy' type hotels. They are all rather new. I haven't been in yours but had relatives staying at the Union Sq. W. It was very nice. The room was a decent size and the beds and bedding, were excellent. Their lobbies tend to be a little dark with music playing to create a certain atmosphere for 'hipness'. We also checked out the lobby at the Times Sq, It was too dark and too loud for my tastes. Regardless of the lobby, it's a decent chain.

W. Why don't you do us all a favor and stay home.
You say a friend arranged the room for you .

Are you sure-----I find it hard to believe that you have a friend......

W-New York on Lex is a great spot...excellent gym (they charge 15 gym fee), good restaurant and the Whiskey Blue Bar is very hip, if you're into that. Rooms are smallish, but hey, you're in NYC...the comfortable beds make up for it. If you've been to the SOHO GRANDE, you can expect similar room sizes..

W, in your original post you refer to the place in question as the W Hotel and then later when you respond you say it is actually called W New York. I think you should take credit for causing alot of confusion here for referring to one place by two different names. Go back and read your original post and then your response to my response in which I was only trying to help you. If I had known you were such a rude person, I would not have tried to help you.

W,

Why are you going to a hotel that you say is reputed to have small rooms and lousy service and then you ask us all what we know about it? Then you're rude to people who are only trying to help you?
