Cleveland Indians

Hello all,
I will be spending one night in Cleveland in June and want to go to an Indians game. There is a 705 pm night game the night I am there and I have a mid day flight out of Cleveland the next day. I could either stay by the airport and drive to Jacobs field or stay at Jacobs field and drive to the airport the next day. Which do you think would be better--staying by the Jake or staying by the airport?

Also, is it easy to get baseball tickets in Cleveland or should I buy them ahead of time?

thanks.

I probably shouldn't butt in here as I don't know anything specifically about the Cleveland Indians. However, we almost always include at least one baseball game on our road trips. And we always buy the tickets ahead. Just seems to me that if seeing a game is really important to you, you wouldn't want to take a chance that you'll get there and find the tickets sold out.

I'd suggest staying downtown near The Jake (Hilton Garden Inn, Marriott, Renaissance, Radisson are all within walking distance). That way you can walk around the city the next morning rather than just hanging out in your hotel or at the airport.

Pending who they're playing, you should have no problems buying a ticket that day. However, you may want to go online and see how many tickets are still available for that game.

Are you traveling alone? I have noticed that single tickets for really great seats are available on game day, but check the indians site to be sure. www.indians.com
Pairs and multiples are a little harder to come by if you want really good seats. However, if you get lousy seats, just cruise around the park and you can see the action from almost anywhere. You'll see many fans standing and enjoying the game from very good vantage points.

I'd stay downtown too as the hotel situation by the airport isn't that great and you can do something downtown before you leave the next afternoon.

Thanks everyone.
I will be traveling with my partner, so we will need a pair of tickets. I may go ahead and by them ahead of time, but i know at some parks (like Baltimore's) you can actually get much better tickets from scalpers than from the on-line ticket sales. Any idea if such tickets are usually available around the Jake?

I have seen scalpers there every time I have gone. Not that I'd advise you to do anything illeagal, but the area between the Jake and Quicken Loans Arena seems to be pretty good for scoring a pair of tix.

Does Jacobs field have restaurants that you can dine at while watching the game?

There is a restaurant in the Jake that you can dine at while watching at least part of the game. I've never done it, but I believe there are 2 seatings during the game. Hopefully someone else can chime in here.

BTW, if you buy tickets from scalpers, be certain you are paying face value. Folks have been ticketed for buying for anything but.
