Christmas Holiday out west

My family would like to plan a road trip out west for the Christmas holidays and have never traveled to the Sedona/Grand Canyon area. Any suggestions as to what to expect in weather in mid December and suggestions as to itinerary. We could plan up to a 6-7 day stay in this area. Thank you.

Weather should be heavenly, although cooler in the Sedona/Grand Canyon areas, possible snow, you never know, possible, but improbable. I would be surprised if you have anything other than sunshine, bright blue skies....clothing, might need jeans/sweatshirt, jacket, layers. Everywhere is pretty casual, so denim goes a long way. I think this is a great idea of your Christmas. We live in Phoenix, but have been to the canyon and Sedona during the winter and it is still great weather, although a lot cooler than Phoenix. Just keep watching the temperatures.

Many thanks for the advice on the weather. Would you recommend spending at least one night at the Grand Canyon and is there enough to do in the area, without traveling to the Four Corners area, Bryce, Zion. Or should we fit this in. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

One night at the canyon, one night at Canyon de Chelly and one night at Monument Valley, a beautiful combination that compliment each other...tours at MV and CDC are a must. At that time of year, the afternoon tour would be best, they last 2-3 hours.
