Christmas Travel in the Southwest

We will be in Scottsdale for 10 days at Christmas. Does anyone have any ideas regarding places we might wish to visit in the southwest for a few days during this trip home in December? We don't necessarily need snow, as we are from Toronto! Thanks

Sedona and Grand Canyon to the north (watch the weather, don't go up just before a snowstorm since the roads can get closed).

Tucson to the south.

It will likely be very cold at the Grand Canyon,at 7,000 feet elevation. Sedona will be milder, being at 4500 feet. Sedona has their annual Festival of Lights going on during that time, which would be fun if you can stay overnight there.

If you ever wanted to see Hoover Dam and Las Vegas, this is your chance. Take US 93. It's about 3.5 hours from Scottsdale to Kingman. About an hour out of Kingman on 93 you will go over the new high bridge over Hoover Dam. Take the tour if it is open, otherwise just walk from one end to the other. There is open air parking on the Arizona side if you don't want to pay for the parking structure on the Nevada side.
It's about an hour from the dam into Las Vegas.
