Chocolate Bars in Chicago

What is a chocolate bar? Any recommendations for such in the downtown Chicago area would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

I've only been to the one in Soho, but this place is fantastic and they have a few locations in Chicago (Michigan Ave. & Lincoln Park). Try the kalamata olive chocolate bar and the chipotle bar. SO freaking good...

They also have a "bar" where they'll make you chocolate drinks:

Thank you lizz06. This is a good start. I had higher hopes for more responses and am left wondering how I can improve that. Is it the topic or way it was posted??

I have the feeling that the reason you aren't having many replies is that not many people have an experience with bars that feature chocolate as a main offering.

I saw one on TV during a special on Chocolate. That's all I know.

Irish -- you are thinking of Hot Chocolate, which is a full service resturant.

At least I think you are. Unless there is something new up there that I'm not aware of (which wouldn't surprise me).

There used to be a great place called "sugar" - a dessert bar, but it has closed!

Another vote for Vosges- quirky but good and it's not gimmicky. Check if there's a Maison du Chocolat in Chicago, one of the best chocolatiers out there.
I'm not a fan of Hersheys, but it has its fans.

Wow, thanks for the heads up and solid considerations. I will try in two weeks and report. Agree, not having heard about this before, so I too, was unsure what it is and how to define it. Thanks again.

There's also a chocolate bar in the Randolph Street restaurant strip, on the South side of Randolph and west of Halsted. It's called Chicago Chocolate Cafe.

HTH,

There's a new place in the Hotel Intercontinental called Eno. It's a chocolate/cheese/wine bar. I haven't been yet, but it sounds intriguing. Here's the write-up on Metromix:

(Sorry for the long link.)
