My new husband and I are having our 4-day "mini-moon" in Chicago at the end of this month. We're arriving Aug. 27 about noon and leaving Aug. 31. We'd like to go hear some really good, smokin' jazz or blues one night at a club. We are both 40-ish. Can someone suggest a good place, please?

You choose the venue based on the performer. Not the other way around.

Suggest that you look at Metromix (the Chicago Tribune's entertainment website), the Chicago Reader or Time Out Chicago to see who is playing where when you are here.

Please keep in mind that every place will have a cover charge. What it will be depends on the performer.
