Chicago Memorial Weekend

We are traveling to Chicago Memorial Weekend. We have tickets to see Spamalot and The King Tut exhibit. I have made reservations at the Crowne Plaza Silversmith. Good choice? We are hoping to walk to the museum. What are my food options in this area?

You can check hotel reviews at www.tripadvisor.com From what I've seen, it seems just fine and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there if you got a good deal. The location is certainly good, and you could have a very nice walk to the Field Museum through Grant Park if the weather cooperates.

Foodwise you have plenty of options. What are you interested in cuisine-wise, how much do you want to spend, and how far are you willing to go from the hotel (is cab or el OK, or walking only, etc)?

If you want a casual meal on your way to or from the museum, the Eleven City Diner seems fun. It's a Jewish deli type place. We stopped in for ice cream from the soda fountain, but definitely would like to go back for a casual lunch or dinner. Very neighborhood-restaurant type of place. It's at 1112 S. Wabash, just a block or so north of the red line stop at Roosevelt. http://www.elevencitydiner.com/

You'll have a great time. Don't forget to walk in Millenium Park, the water is on and everything is "done".

There are SO MANY restaurants in LOOP area that I would suggest this.

Go to www.metromix.com and put in your hotel address in the restaurant web feature. It will give you restaurants, their distance, their reviews etc.

If you go to the Shedd Aquarium, I have eaten in Landings there. That is nice for a lunch. White tablecloth and good food, not very high pricing. I love the Shedd.

What is the address of the Crowne Plaza Silversmith? That's one I have never visited.

If you search here for Chicago Restaurants you will see lots of older threads on this exact issue and lots of detailing may help you.

Have a great time. I'll be in Toronto.

It used to be easier because they had a separate lodging/hotel category.

Go to the search- put in either hotels or your hotel name. (Your hotel name will be easier because then you may not have to scroll to the right page for the exact feature.)

When you get to the hotel, view reviews etc. and links to food in the area. It used to be quicker with an address plug in.

Hope it helps.

If the weather is nice, one of my fav places is the outdoor cafe at Park Grill in Millennium Park. It's a great place to people watch and the food is pretty good.
