Chicago Hotel: Park Hyatt or Peninsula?

Hi there, I am going to Chicago this coming March 2004 and I'm trying to decide whether to stay at Park Hyatt or Peninsula hotel. I'm in my early 20's and it seems to me that either one of these hotels would be excellent. I know it's a case of modern art vs casual elegance styles, but I'm in to either one. Have any of you guys stayed on these hotels? I would really appreciate your input. Thanks!

Peninsula in Chicago is one of my favorite hotels anywhere, I always stay there when I'm in Chicago. It's a great hotel. Large rooms, bathrooms are amazing, high tech controls for room, beautifully decorated and great service.

They are both nice but the Pennisula is rated one of the top 10 in the nation. I've only been in the bar but that tends to be a younger hipper crowd than the Park Hyatt.

My husband and I are going there in May. Haven't stayed there but they have an incredible fitness center and spa on the top floor plus it's in a great location. The bathrooms from the photos look amazing.

I've stayed at the Peninsula 7 or 8 times since it opened, and it is one of the best hotels in the continental US. Zagat rated it the #1 in the US for 2003. I wouldn't classify it as casual elegance. It's very nice. Some will even consider it too formal for their tastes.
The PH is also a very nice hotel, but it isn't quite in the same class as the Peninsula. Views are better at the PH, though, if that's important to you.

Wow, it seems like Peninsula is the one to go with. I had been leaning towards the Peninsula, but a little unsure if it's truly worth it. Your comments are reassuring, so I think I'll keep my reservation with Peninsula. Thanks again. I appreciate it.
