During my trip, I can only see the Cubs at their evening game on 7/29. The official website only offers tickets along the 3rd base line at the end of the field for $20; however, I see other tickets at Primetickets.com. Any advice, here? Can I see anything from there? Do I need to go ahead and buy now? Traveling alone, so only need one ticket. Also, what plays would you recommend? Late Night Catechism sounds funny, and I see Mamma Mia, I Love You..., and Kiss Me Kate are there, also. Would appreciate any other thoughts on what might be going on; will be in a seminar all day during the week.

There is really not a bad seat in Wrigley Field. The capacity of the park is around 40,000, just that the views are different. Only you can decide whether a scalped ticket is worth the extra price.

Check metromix.com for theater offerings that weekend. Second City is a Chicago classic, but there are many other options.

Yes, there aren't a lot of bad seats at Wrigley, but there are certainly some mediocre ones. Way up the third base side is pretty far from the action, and it stays in the sun the longest. Anything towards the center would be an improvement. For an extra few bucks, a good seat from a ticket broker would be worth it, IMO.

Also, http://www.chicagoplays.com/ has a play selector by dates. Second City and their etc. company are reliable fun; Lookingglass, Steppenwolf, Famous Door, Noble Fool, Redmoon and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre are small-to-medium sized companies with high quality offerings.

The Chicago Architecture Foundation has dozens of tour offerings. A day divided between Lincoln Park Zoo and the Historical Society is an enjoyable one. There are free concerts in Grant Park every weekend, and free offerings at the Chicago Cultural Center almost every day. A special events calendar and lots of tourist info can be found at

Like the previous posters, all the seats are relativly close to the action. Some are just closer than others. Just checked cubs website and according to their ticket availability page, there are no tickets available that night (but this may be for 2 or more tickets...there always seems to be singletons out there). Night games and anytime Barry comes to town is a high demand ticket. The cheapest ticket at primetickets is $70. Needing only one ticket could work for you or against. You should be able to do much better than $70 buying one on the street before the game. If I could make a recommendation, a one ticket buyer will have more luck buying bleacher tickets off the street since these are general admission. You can't beat the bleachers...skip out early from that seminar and go early to see batting practice and maybe catch a HR.

To really experience Wrigley Field, you must scalp a ticket and sit in the bleachers! It's like a big beer garden, and definetly the best place if you are by yourself, very social!

I would suggest you see some local theatre. Check out plays at the Steppenwolf or a show at Second City.
