Cherry Blossom in Washington DC

Hi,

I'm planning to visit DC to see cherry blossom this year. For those of you in DC, when will be the peak bloom period this year? Will I miss most of it if I visit on the 4/10 weekend?
Thanks!

2004 Peak blooming forecast is March 26 - April 2. Check out the National Park Service webpage for updates and info; http://www.nps.gov/nacc/cherry/updated.htm

The peak will be this coming weekend (3/26-3/28). FYI, Peak blooms coinciding with weekend dates = mega crowds.

And BTW, it is very cold and extremely windy here in DC area now (40 mph wind gusts yesterday, last night, and today.) I don't know if this is supposed to continue (I hope not), but if it does there will be lots of blossoms blowing off the trees.

It is very cold and windy here today (Mon., 3/22), but sunny.

Mid week (Weds. through weekend) it is supposed to be warmer -- low to mid 60s.

Some blossoms are out now.

The local TV stations here in Washington were reporting last night that the opening of the blossoms will be delayed due to the unusually cold weather we have had here the last few days. But they may not last as long as 4/10.

According to the National Park Service (NPS) web site noted above (http://www.nps.gov/nacc/cherry/updated.htm) the peak bloom time is now projected to be April 2-4. This site is updated daily and has lots of interesting and detailed information about the trees and the blooms. Since the blooms are at their best for just a few days there may not be much left by April 10th.

A few hundred big cherry trees line the street where i work here right outside DC and only about 40% are in full bloom right now. Its going to be cool and raining this week. April 10 is kinda iffy...predicting cherry blossoms around here is like forecasting snow 8-P

Peak bloom is now set for tomorrow, 3/31. April 10 will be a little late. Probably won't be much left by then.

Sorry.
