DC cherry blossom this year
The webcam site I found for the mall in DC is broken somehow... so I can't tell the progress of the trees are blossoming this year.
http://www.nps.gov/nama/planyourvisi...om-web-cam.htm
Can someone send me another webcam that works?
Can someone in DC tell me what they think how the blossoming will turn out this year.
BTW, here in SF bay area, most cherry trees are blooming, and are washed off by the rain.

Not sure why that site isn't working -- today in DC it is very overcast and we're expecting a snowstorm later this evening. Here's another site that will give u info on the cherry blosson blooming

We're a good month off I'd say -- definitely no blossoms are out this early.

I saw a little cherry tree in full bloom on Connecticut Ave yesterday, but I suppose it's one of the early-blooming types. Also spotted a few blooming daffodils and forsythia in sheltered locations. The buds are definitely swelling. Here's a link to the NPS's official web site for tracking the buds' progress and at the bottom there's a chart of past years' significant dates for each milestone.

As the chart shows, in 6 of the past 7 years, the peak bloom has been on or before April 2.

I wonder why that estimate is so much later than the historic and recent averages. Although it has been really cold in DC for the past few days, it's supposed to hit 65 over the weekend, which should get everything back on schedule for peak between March 30-April 2. Only time will tell!
