Charleston restaurant question
Would be interested in hearing from folks who've been to McGrady's in Charleston. We visit the city every couple of years and enjoy trying new places (and revisiting some of our favorites). Have much enjoyed: Magnolia's,Carolina's, S.N.O.B., Peninsula Grill
Did not especially like High Cotton or Charleston Grill (thought the food at Charleston was wonderful-- and loved the quiet piano music-- but felt the restaurant might have "been anywhere.")
Would appreciate feed-back on McGrady's or other favorites. thanks a bunch.

I like McCrady's (with a "c")very much. It doesn't try really hard to be "southern", however, which is part of why I like it. Nothing wrong with southern cooking, I just don't like it tarted up into some "theme-fusion" kind of thing.
The other poster meant Hominy (as in grits) Grill. It's OK, does not live up to the hype, IMO. But I agree that it's a good brunch option.

I think McCrady's is between chefs at the moment, so I don't know what effect, if any, this has had on their kitchen. It is my understanding though, that Chef Sean Brock, a very talented chef from Nashville, TN will be taking over the kitchen in April.

The last time we were there (end of Jan.06) we had a great meal at Hank's...seafood that was excellent. Had a great meal at 82 Queen in August....very atmospheric. It's about a block north of the market.
